I should be
finishing Suzy’s birthday party blogs, but we had some exciting weather over the past few weeks. When I say “exciting”, I mean it! It snowed!!!
Friday
night, Mimi came over to watch Suzy so Hubs and I could go to dinner. I asked
Oakey and KK if they wanted to join us for a nice little date night. We scooped
them up on our way out of town, and headed to a new restaurant in Hernando
named AC’s. It was absolutely scrumptious. We all ordered something different;
No one complained one second about their meals. Everything was divine. Oakey
was introduced to fried corn on the cob and he loved it. He looked so much like
a little redneck eating that corn. I really should have taken a photo to
publish on this blog!
Sidenote:
The fact that KK and Oakey are dating is awesome. She and I are best friends
and our Scotts are best friends. It works out so nicely! Our Scotts grew up
together. There were actually 3 Scotts in their “gang”. Scott McIver, Scott
Oakley, and Scott Smith. Scott McIver was referred to as Big Scott. My Scott
was referred to as Lil’ Scott, and pooooooor little Oakey…. He didn’t get a
nickname! Scott Oakley was just plain ole Scott. Scott Oakley does have a
nickname from us, now. We are very big on everyone in Suzy’s life having a pet
name. Scott Oakley is now “Oakey” to us. She sounds absolutely adorable when
she says his name! To this day, everyone still refers to my Scott as “Lil’
Scott”.
Any who,
back to where I left off…. We got back to town, dropped KK and Oakey off, and
headed home. We were surprised to find Suzy still awake after 9:00 PM. Mimi
said she just wasn’t ready to go to bed yet. When I finally got her still in my
lap we read, prayed, and sang….. She was out within minutes! Her just needed
her Mama’s routine! J
Scott and I
are lame and old these days, so we ended up in bed shortly after Suzy. I was
out like a light until dawn, but Scott is a terrible sleeper. He said he woke
up around 3:00 AM to find lots and lots of snow (for us)! When I woke up around
8:00 I was blown away at all the snow we had gotten. No, it wasn’t tons of
snow, but it was a substantial amount for North Mississippi. We were so excited
about what we got!
We made Suzy
eat breakfast before we would let her go outside.
Suzy and Bella waiting patiently! |
We were hoping that the temps
would come up a little bit, too. We were finally cleared by Scott to go
outside. We bundled up and headed outside. Bella and Lola were just as excited
as we were about the snow. My poor Bella that is old and arthritic, but it
didn’t slow her down one bit Saturday morning. Snow brings out the kid in
everyone!
We played as
long as we could. Suzy gave it her best, but when she was shivering we knew it
was time to head inside to warm up. We had plenty of layers on her, but she
just couldn’t handle too much of the cold. We didn’t know when
we went inside to warm up that all the snow would soon melt. It was all gone by
lunch L
All she wanted to do was eat the snow! |
The snow gave her a little extra speed! |
Love this! |
WIPE OUT! |
Daddy had just clobbered SZ with a snowball! She was not impressed. |
Mammie got a family photo as we were going inside! Thank goodness for Mammie and Pappy! |
