It's Fall Y'all!

The past few weeks have been very exciting, eventful, and tiring! It seems like every single weekend has had something "on the agenda". Fall Break was a much needed break for me!!!

A couple weekends ago Lauren, Mom, Memaw, and I went to Tupelo for the weekend. That Friday night I got to see my roommate from MSU, Lindzey Hardin, and her husband. It was so great to see them. I have missed her so much. It is hard to go from seeing someone every single day to not seeing them but maybe once or twice a year. We met Lindzey and Trae at Outback for dinner. It was awesome to catch up with them.

We stayed in a hotel that Friday night (which resulted in a trip to the chiropractor.... the beds were absolutely miserable). When we woke up we headed to the Tupelo Flea Market. WOW!!! is all I can say about that. We found tons of goodies there. Of course, Suzy was the only person that I seemed to be shopping for. She got a great supply of cute little bows :) When we left the Flea Market we shopped around Tupelo at the  normal stops... TJ Maxx, Old Navy, etc. The shopping day and the trip home was extremely hard on my body. By the time we got home I was in so much pain from walking/standing so much that Lauren and I went for a pedicure. I looked down at my feet and they were triple their normal size. The pedicure helped a little bit, but I was still miserable when I got home. I hit the big jacuzzi tub and the bed promptly after that. Needless to say, I slept very late Sunday!

Monday morning of Fall Break I had the dreaded Glucose Test at my OBGYN's office. I was extremely nervous about having this test done. I am the first to admit that I do not have great diet habits, so I was concerned that maybe all my chocolate cravings were going to come back to bite me in the tail. Apparently they do a lot of the glucose tests on early Monday mornings, because I was one of about 6 girls getting it done at the same time. Everyone that knows me, knows that I am a very strange bird when it comes to textures of foods and drinks. I will throw up at just the thought of some foods, so I was scared that I would throw that drink up they were about to shove down my throat. All the other girls that were taking the test took their little orange drinks in a cup and were drinking through straws.... me on the other hand, I asked the lady to leave it in the bottle. I knew that if I didn't drink it all in one gulp without a break I would end up in big trouble. That was my plan and I stuck to it. The 16 oz of icky orange drink were GONE within seconds. I kept it down for the hour that I was supposed to and low and behold... I PASSED IT! While I was there I saw Dr. Harper. I didn't have to have any ultrasounds that day, so all she did was listen for the heartbeat and measure my belly.... I am measuring a week ahead of my due date already.

I am steadily getting bigger and apparently I do not look down at my feet when I am getting dressed anymore.... I went to town the other day and shopped around at all the cute little shops. At my last stop I looked down at my feet just to realize that I had on two different shoes. One of the shoes is made out of yoga mats and the other one was just a plain ole' leather flip flop. I am not sure how on Earth I didn't notice the difference before I even walked out the door.

Black Sanuk and brown Rainbow....
Ricky (my grandfather) has been refinishing an antique dresser for Suzy's room for the past couple weeks. He got it finished while we were in Tupelo and delivered it over Fall Break. It is absolutely precious. He even made a diaper changing station to add to the top. He is awesome. We are so lucky to have such a crafty man in our lives!

Happy Fall!!!
During Fall Break I walked around the house checking my flower beds to see if they needed to be mulched and to check the progress of my Fall plants. I walked around the side of the house and noticed that the mums from our wedding were in full bloom and HUGE! I am so glad that I ended up using mums instead of a lot of mixed arrangements. I think everyone in my family has some of the mums planted in their flower beds, so we are continuing to enjoy them years later! Look at how big they have gotten in just two years.

Unfortunately, the last few weeks haven't been all fun and games.... Friday (October 14, 2011) wasn't a fun day to say the least. Around twelve o'clock Mrs. Shipp and I took our kiddos to lunch in the cafeteria. While we were sitting there having our lunch my eyesight started going blurry. The best way I can describe it would be to say that it was like a static TV screen. It was the weirdest thing that I have ever experienced. I didn't feel bad, I just couldn't see. I didn't mention the problem to anyone for a couple hours. Finally, around 2 o'clock I told my roommate, Jennifer what was going on with my eyes and told her that I had a slight headache. She, of course, told me to go see Nurse Crockett (school nurse). I refused and told her that I would be fine.... Well, she didn't take no for an answer. She went to get Nurse and she came down to our room to check my blood pressure thinking that maybe it was too high or something. It wasn't, it was actually normal (which surprised me because I have been a bit stressed out the past week). She told me to call my doctor, so I called Dr. Harper's office and told her nurse what was going on. She insisted that I go to the ER right away. She informed me that with vision changes and headaches that it could be a multitude of things that could be wrong (i.e. at risk for stroke, blood pressure problems). I did NOT want to go to the ER, but I called my mom to come get me anyway. She showed up at SMS to pick me up. I thought that I could talk her out of the ER trip once I was in the car with her, but she wouldn't even think of it. Needless to say, I am glad that they made me go. By the time I got to Oxford ER I was in severe pain and my eyes were pouring water. I didn't know what could be going on, but I needed to find out ASAP. They admitted me to the ER and did some vision tests and checked the normal stuff (blood pressure, weight, temperature, etc). After about an hour the doctor informed me that I was having migraines due to pregnancy hormones. The migraines caused vision impairments and nausea. They gave me an IV of fluids, some pain meds, and some phenergan and sent me home (after debating the possibility to keep me over night for observation). When I got home my head hit the pillow and I didn't wake up until almost 11 Saturday morning. The things that have been stressing me out lately have definitely been moved to the "back burner" for now. Mine and Suzy's health just aren't worth it. I am trying very hard not to let the petty things bother me from now on!! I do not want to end up in the ER again!!
My very first IV. I was terrified. I didn't want that woman to come near me with those needles!
The next exciting thing on the agenda is our 3D/4D Ultrasound. We will have that November 4!! I cannot wait to see our little nugget again!!
