Smart Sue

My sweet baby Suzy  is growing up entirely too quickly. She learns new things daily and shocks me by her vocabulary/actions constantly. In my eyes, she is a genius! She will be two on January 7, 2014. Seems like I was planning her first birthday just yesterday.

Some Amazing Facts about Ella Suzanne Smith:

1. She knows every single character's name on Mickey Mouse Club House. She still watches it nonstop when we are at home, but has recently started to watch Max and Ruby when we are in the car. My favorite characters to hear her talk about are: "Goooopy and Daaaazy" (Goofy and Daisey).

2. She knows all her numbers, but doesn't get them in the correct order 99% of the time. She usually says: 1,4,7,9,10 and leaves 2, 3,5,6,8 out. She only really uses those numbers when she is going up or down stairs. When counting objects she completely leaves them out. Her favorite number seems to be 7. She says it a lot.

She was soooo good in Wal Mart one day that she got all kinds of new hair bows and popcorn :)

Seven seems to be her favorite number. She repeats it more than the others. She pronounces it, "seben".

3. Her favorite colors seem to be purple and orange. When she sees those colors she immediately lets me know that she sees them. If I ask her what color a bus is she will tell me yellow, but she doesn't volunteer the information. She does know all her basic colors most of the time: red, green, yellow, orange, blue, purple, pink

Her favorite spot at our house... The kitchen counter.

4. She amazes me how she remembers people's names. We have a lot of people in our family and a lot of close friends, and she never disappoints them by calling them by the wrong name!

5. On most Thursdays and Fridays Suzy goes to Tattle Tales. Monday-Wednesdays she spends with Memaw. She can tell which location she is heading to immediately when we get on 740. If we go straight to 51 she knows we are going to Memaw's. If we get on 55 she knows we are going to Tattle Tales. Usually on those days she starts whining OR talking about her friends. There really is no telling if she is going to want to go to daycare or not. Some days she loves it. Some days she hates it.

6. When it is bedtime she wants her "banket" and her "WoWo" (baby). She gets those two items and has to have them perfectly positioned in her bed. She flips and flops, tosses and turns, and grunts and grumbles until she has everything perfectly arranged. As soon as it is the way she likes it she is quickly asleep.
That is a vibrating neck pillow for the bath tub. She is obsessed with it. If I would let her I think she would sleep just like that.

7. She got in my car one afternoon at Mimi's house while I was talking to Casey and Melissa in the driveway. I had taken the keys out of the ignition and rolled the driver side window down. She loves to play like she is driving, so she was pretending while we were chatting. She realized I had left my keys in the car after a few minutes. She grabbed my keys, picked my car key, put it in the ignition, and started trying to figure out what to do next. Really, how did she know which one was my actual car key? Was it just luck? I seriously don't think so!

It was so cold that we had to bring the Trike inside over Thanksgiving Break!

8. She knows that Suzy starts with an "S" and can identify which letter is an "S". She also knows that "S" says "ssssssssss".
Beautiful Hair!

We were shopping in Target. She needed to get a closer look at that barn. I think she put it on her Santa list.

And, I will leave you with a pretty funny yet embarrassing story.... If someone gets a laugh out of this, it was well worth publishing it.
When Scott and I got married some of my friends hosted a lingerie shower for me. At the shower I got loads of pretty stuff, but since then I have lost a substantial amount of weight as well as become a mom. Those two things left me without a choice...... I put all my pretties up in a box and stashed it in the extra bedroom closet. I put all the goodies in a pink Victoria's Secret box that doesn't have a very sturdy lid. One afternoon over Thanksgiving Break I decided that I needed to clean that closet out. I had the door open most of the afternoon taking stuff out and reorganizing. I apparently left the door open and the pink flashy box caught Suzy's eye while I was cooking supper....

Happy Anniversary Trip

On the weekend of mine and Scott's 4 year anniversary we loaded up and headed to the Lake House for a weekend getaway with some good friends. Kalon, Kent, and Jessica rode with me to the lake. Scott met us there since he was coming from South Carolina. We had a weekend full of nothing but relaxation and laughs. The weekend was much needed. But, to reverse a bit.... When we arrived, Scott was so antsy to give me my anniversary present. We never really do presents for each other, so I was surprised that he had gotten me something. I opened an envelope to read the sweetest letter that he had written to me. In the letter he told me how much he loved and appreciated everything that I do as a wife and a mother. The things he said just melted my heart. As I was finishing the letter I read something that got me sooooo excited! SCOTT SMITH had arranged for me to have 4 Egg Bowl tickets that would be taking place in Starkville on Thanksgiving night. It was a huge deal to me, because Scott is not a Bulldog fan and he also says that he cannot stand Starkville. Me, on the other hand...... I am a huge Bulldog fan and I had the time of my life in Starkville while I was at MSU. Scott knows that the little town holds a special place in my heart because that's where we finally "met" and started dating. The rest of "us" is history. I also met some of my best friends at MSU. I just love Starkville, I can't say it enough.

The lucky two folks that got to go with us on such a fun trip were Scott "Oakey" (as we call him) and KK! We loaded up after Oakey's Thanksgiving lunch with his family and headed to God's Country. I was the only MSU fan in the car, and I didn't mind one bit. I was going to have a large time whether we won or not!

My poor little Tahoe was covered with Rebels!
We dropped all our luggage off at the hotel and put some extra layers on, because it was going to get COLD! After we were bundled up we were ready to roll on to "The Junction" to meet up with some fellow Tate County folk.
KK in her blue! I had on my maroon under my many layers!
Before we went into the game we chit chatted with everyone at the Tate County tent. While we were waiting around in The Junction I was texting with my great, great friend Jessica Davis (Jessie). We hadn't seen each other in far too long. It was actually when Suzy was born that I saw Jessie last. She is seriously one of my very best friends. She and I never get to see each other, but it's like we never lose connection. I saw Jessie for like 10.2 seconds before we had to go in the stadium. Those 10.2 seconds made my night. I got to hug her neck and see her pretty face.
Hubs is sporting his Ole Miss gear..... for now!

These two Scotts are never up to anything good when they are together.....

The game was back and forth and very boring the first 3 quarters. I was getting pretty antsy by half time. I like a fast moving ballgame. Since the Egg Bowl was on ESPN it was very slow moving... There also wasn't a lot of action between the two teams which didn't entertain me either.

HAPPY!

NERVOUS!

PUMPED!!!!!! AND MAKING FUN OF THE REBELS!

SOOOOOOOOOOOOO FREAKING EXCITED!!!!!
Thank the Lord that MSU is the "Home of the Golden Egg" for now! After leaving the stadium we went to the hotel to warm up and shed some layers. We ended up meeting some friends from Senatobia at The Veranda for drinks and appetizers. Linsey and Brooks Oakley, John David Dowdle, and Bradley Adair were our entertainment for the rest of the evening. Linsey and I talk a good bit back and forth b/c Suzy and Finley (their baby girl) are very close in age. It was great to finally see her again. The Scotts went to school with her hubby and the other boys. It was so much fun to reconnect. Love some Senatobians!

Linsey and I had to take a photo to send to our pal, Jill!

Apparently we were all having such a grand time that we decided to finish the night (or morning) at Linsey and Brooks' townhouse. Several others came over as well. We sat by the fire, listened to music, chatted, laughed, chatted, laughed, chatted, etc. TOOOOO MUCH FUN WAS HAD.

The cab driver dropped us off at our hotel and the last text I sent was to my mom at 5:30 AM. Needless to say...... We woke up at 10:50 to check out at 11:00. FRANTIC/PANIC MODE!!! We all decided we needed something really greasy and lovely in our bellies for the journey home.... We got just what the doctor ordered. My FAVE!

The Pat-O!

Monkey Hear, Monkey Say

Senatobia First Baptist Church has a huge Gingko tree that the community watches patiently as the leaves start turning yellow. I noticed one morning on my way to school that the leaves were starting to change, and a couple days later Jill sent me a text telling me that the tree was "ready". That very day I sent Kalon a text and told her that I would need her assistance. We got Suzy all dressed and headed to the beautiful Gingko tree.

I will be the first to admit that I do not have the best language. I talk terribly, and I desperately need to break the habit. I don't really know when my 4 letter word habit started, but I don't even notice saying them anymore. The best way to make the habit go away/slow down is to hear your 23 month old baby girl repeat one of the lovely words after you let one fly!

Scenario One
-- Suzy and I went by Sonic one day to pick up drinks for ourselves and the boys at the shop (Papaw and Casey). We got to the shop to deliver the drinks, and Suzy wanted to color with Papaw. She gets in his lap to color while he and I chat. Something happens to cause a commotion and her drink lands in the floor and the styrofoam cup busts.... drink everywhere!! It took an entire roll of paper towels to clean the mess up. I had thrown the soaked paper towels in the trash can by Papaw's desk. I rounded the corner after cleaning the final ounce off the floor and kicked the trash can over. I ALMOST let the "S Word" slip... Instead of saying the word I just simply made the "sh" sound (ssssshhhhhhhhhh.....). Well, Suzy finished it for me. I said "sh" and she said "shit".... Way to go Mama!!!

Tid-Bits of 2012 Tree!

 Scenario Two:
Gigi and Pops have a little poodle named Lucy. She barks constantly and is kind of mean. She growls, snaps, etc. She has never been mean to Suzy, but she hates me to death. She barks almost nonstop every time she hears something or sees someone that she doesn't think belongs at her house. Pops always tells Lucy to hush and threatens to spank her butt. Well, Lucy started barking one day and Suzy said, "Lucy hush... spank butt"!!! Way to go Pops!!!

Scenario Three:
I tell Suzy all the time that I will spank her if she acts out. She knows that if I have to spank her she will get the wooden spoon (AKA- the poon). Her Daddy told her to spank Mama a couple weeks ago.... Well, she spanked her Mama and her Mama didn't think it was funny. Now, she is going through a lovely stage of hitting/spanking when she doesn't get what she wants. Way to go Hubs!!!!

Scenario Four:
Laurie, KK, Suzy, and I went to see Casey and Lissa's new house yesterday. While we were out there we saw a man running in their neighborhood. They live 7 miles from town. When we got back from their house Laurie went to Sonic. She saw the same man running by Sonic. She was sharing the information with us and KK let a very exhausting "sssssshhhhhhhiiiiiiiittttttt" fly. Well, so did Suzy. Suzy was also very impressed/flabbergasted that man ran from Strayhorn to Sonic. Way to go KK and Laurie!!!!

I think you get the point....
She will simply do and say anything she sees someone else doing or saying. She is growing up far too fast. The things she knows and talks about amaze me. Some of her knowledge is horrendous (as mentioned above), but most of it is truly genius!

I'll leave you with my favorite "uh oh" story by far.
Since I can remember I have always called a girl's private parts a "nana". I have apparently taught Suzy that is her "nana" as well. When she bathes and gets a diaper change she always wants a wipey for her nana or pow-pow (powder). Well, while we were at the zoo over Fall Break we were in The Farm. We could only see the backside of a horse for a minute while it was eating. She announced to God and everybody near us that the horse had a "nana". She screamed it. "Horsey.... NANA! Horsey, Nana!!!!", over and over and over. Talk about wanting to crawl in a hole! I could have died.
It looks like this could have been when she said it, doesn't it?
