The Past Year- Final Part

September

We spent Labor Day at the lake, which is always wonderful.
Suzy got her very first life jacket for all her swimming and boating adventures.

Always happy to be by the water.
She was still snoring to an extreme. Over Labor Day Scott and I decided that she must see an Ear, Nose, and Throat Specialist to get to the bottom of this problem. We came to this conclusion after many sleepless nights. She was snoring so loud that she would wake us up. After seeing the doctor, he told us that she needed tubes in her ears and he possibly needed to remove her adenoids. They ended up not removing the adenoids, but she did get the tubes. She still snores. The doctor informed us that she would just be a snorer. The older she gets the quieter she is, but the problem still persists.
Playing in the waiting area.

Waiting to be taken back. She sure seemed happy, didn't she?

It took them too long to come get her. She fell asleep. Poor baby girl.
September was a month full of "firsts" for Suzy. She took her first trip to the zoo and got her first pair of walking shoes all in the same day. Kalon and I had a ball with her. It was such a fun trip. Her love for animals really started shining through. Her favorite animal was the cow.

This was the cow. I wish you could see her expression from the front side.

We wore her out.

Suzy went to her first car show and first soccer game all in one Saturday. Her Laurie took her to the game. She met a sweet friend, Evie there. After the game we headed to Tunica so her Papaw could show her off along with all his fancy cars.

Evie and Suzy at the game.
The only thing she was interested in a the car show was chewing her shoe.

After a long day Laurie still played dress up with Sue Baby.
October
Suzy had three teeth, she could climb completely out of her walker, and stand alone. She started mimicing sounds that we would make (coughing, laughing, etc.), and could say "MaMa, DaDa, and Bye-Bye". Her love for the walker turned into a love for the playpen. She was a Mama's girl and I loved it.
She also got to attend her very first wedding. Monica and Walker tied the knot, and we attended the festivities. Kalon, Lauren, and I completed The Color Run in Memphis, TN. It was our major accomplishment for the year. Suzy went from standing alone to taking 6-10 steps. She also developed a major Smith attitude.

Ford let us play with his car one afternoon. I went home that day and posted that I wanted one. A girl from work had one, and I bought it the next day. That car is a lifesaver at the Smith house. She loves it more than anything, still.
Some of the more exciting things for Suzy that happened in October consisted of a Halloween Party and Halloween itself.

November
Bernice was introduced to our family in the lovely month of giving. The cat came into our house crazy, and she will leave our house crazy. She is ridiculous. She has given us fits, but Suzy loves her, so I hope that she stays with us for a long time.

Suzy became a full time walking baby. She was moving quickly by the end of November. We spent the Thanksgiving holiday at the lake house. While we were there she got her 8th tooth. She also started biting, kicking, and yelling (tantrums) while in Alabama.

One afternoon I took her to the First Baptist Church in Senatobia to take pictures with the Gingko tree. It was quite the experience.

December
I decorated my first Christmas tree as a Mama. It was thrilling. That night I read the book, Elf on the Shelf. The next morning Elf was waiting on her in the car.
I tried incredibly hard to do fun Christmas things with Suzy in order to start traditions. Most of the things I tried to do were a disaster, but it was all worth it. The most fun thing we did was the gingerbread men with Easten. It was a ball.

Suzy met Santa twice and hated him both times. She was just not impressed with him at all.

We spent our first Christmas with Suzy and she had a ball. She loaded up with cool toys and clothes. It was the best Christmas that Scott and I have ever had.

Scott and I spent New Year's Eve at Back Acres Country Club with great friends while Suzy rang in the new year with Mimi and Papaw. We dressed in our best 80s attire and danced the night away. It was loads of fun.

That has been our year. It has been the best year of our lives, thanks to Suzy!
