"Runny Babbit"

A lot has been going on at the Smith Residence lately! First of all.... THE BABY BED IS HERE!!! After all the madness we finally got a call from Babies R Us informing us that the baby bed was at their store waiting on us to pick it up. Ahhhhhh, what a sigh of relief. Scott stopped by there on his way home from Nashville and picked it up for me. Of course, I was too antsy to wait for it to be put together at a later date so him and Papa Ricky put it together that night. I absolutely love it. It is exactly what I was hoping for. Now, I can quit stressing about it!
The finished product!!
I stopped by mom's house one afternoon while she was going through closets. Of course, I had to scope out my old closet to make sure all my belongings were still "in tact". When I started snooping around through all my stuff that is still there I came across my old bunny rabbit that I used to carry everywhere with me. I can remember taking that bunny to church camps and sleepovers well into my early teens. I was a bit obsessed. She doesn't have any eyes left and her belly is hollow from where I carried her, but she will be perfect for Suzy's nursery! So glad mom kept it for me!

My sweet "runny babbit"!
Last weekend mom, memaw, and I went to Babies R Us so I could finish registering. I went in the store knowing exactly what I wanted (stroller, car seat, pack and play, etc) just to find out that it was being discontinued. Just my luck, eh? So, the quick trip I had planned turned into a bit longer than expected. But, I am happy to say that we are registered at the two big places! I am so happy that is behind me. I had no idea how expensive baby "stuff" was. I knew formula and diapers were the pits, but I didn't know that baby accessories were so high! I guess I am just learning as I go. The coolest thing that I found while at the store was this contraption called a "Nap Nanny". I MUST have one of these gadgets. Look it up, they seem amazing!

A friend of mine that I went to high school with, Lynn Nickels Savage, has been working on my stationary for Suzy. I gave her my fabric samples and she went to work creating the coolest cards ever for her. I am in love with them and cannot wait to get them!! Check out her blog if you ever need anything like this done. She even does party/shower invitations!!!! lnsavage.blogspot.com

How being 23 weeks pregnant is treating me:

1. It is definitely time to put all the non-maternity clothes in tupperware not to be seen again until late January or early February. I have even outgrown a lot of the maternity hand me downs that friends have sent me. I know that getting bigger is all part of being pregnant, I was just unaware of how quickly it happened.
2. Heartburn has consumed me more than ever and I don't see it slacking up. My new best friend is Tums. I could drink a glass of water and have heartburn.
3. My once restful nights are no longer restful... up and down.... up and down... up and down... and the madness continues all night.
4. The coolest part of my day is when I can feel her moving around in my belly. It is such an amazing thing to feel. I wish that I knew when she was going to do it so I could be "on guard" to feel it through my belly by hand. I've only caught it by touch a couple times and it is awesome. I cannot wait for Scott to feel it.
5. I no longer buy anything for myself. I told Lauren the other night that it was amazing how much money I have saved by not shopping for myself every weekend. I am buying stuff for Suzy every chance I get, but am some how coming out better in the long run than I did pre-pregnancy! Crazy how things work out.
6. Giving the pups a bath in the tub is quite challenging. My belly doesn't really allow the reach that I used to have, so my pups are filthy little critters.
23 Weeks and 4 days pregnant.

Our next doctor's appointment is October 11. They will do my glucose testing so it won't be nearly as exciting as the last appointment. For the next week I will be counting down the days until Fall Break!!

Chunky Monkey

First and foremost- I am trying to blog while I watch the MSU vs LSU football game. I am sitting at home alone in the recliner wrapped in my MSU blanket screaming and yelling at the TV. Man, I wish I were a spec of white in that stadium. Thursday night games make me miss college life even more! JoAnne and I are blackberry messaging while we watch. Three years ago we were in The Junction cheering for them. Gosh, how times change!!

As times are changing our house is changing, too! I cleaned out the nursery Sunday afternoon and pulled all the furniture that was originally in the room to the middle of the floor so Frankie could come paint Suzy's room. He came Tuesday morning and painted her room a lovely shade of "Gossamer Blue". I absolutely adore the color. It looks so clean and refreshing. I am so glad that I picked the color. It matches the fabric for the bedding perfectly.

The color doesn't show up too great, but you get the gist. The lighting in the room wasn't very good when I took the picture.

Yesterday afternoon I went by mom's work to chit chat with her. While I was there we looked online to investigate the baby bed situation. The Internet said "available in stores" finally!!! I called the Memphis store and they confirmed that they could indeed order the bed for me. The lady on the phone said, "Make sure you hurry to get here. There are only 10 in the warehouse and it looks like they go quick". Of course those words stressed me out. I was trying to figure out how on Earth I was going to get to Wolfchase that night. I was completely drained from work and knew that I would just be too exhausted to go. So, I called my friend Mandy Elizondo and she agreed to go to Babies R Us and order the bed for me! She had to do all the dirty work! It pays to have friends that live in those pesky urban areas :) After paying 20% of the price of the bed for me she had it ordered. It will be here in 7-14 days. This is such a huge relief. That baby bed was causing some stress around this house!! I cannot wait to get it put together in her little room. One more piece to the "nursery puzzle" is now added!
This is the picture of the crib that Babies R Us has posted.

I went to the doctor to have the "total scan" of Suzy Monday. It was the coolest thing that I have ever seen in my life. We watched her on the monitor for about 30 to 40 minutes. She was all over the place. My grandmother went with me to this appointment and she was in awe at how technology can show you all that. She has never seen an ultrasound before so this was the perfect scan for her to see. Suzy is a very healthy baby girl. The ultrasound tech says she is going to be a little "chunky monkey". She is already a few ounces overweight (she is supposed to be 10 oz and she is weighing around 14). I will take a big bulky baby any day :) It is so nice to be able to see her and know she is doing great!!

"Gives You Wings"

Well, I am 21 weeks pregnant today and behind on blog posts! I can already tell that I am not going to be good at this... But, as most of you mommies out there know different websites send you updates on your "status" of being pregnant and compare the size of your baby to everyday items or foods. My reminder this morning told me that Suzy was approximately the size of a can of Red Bull. It is hard to imagine that this growing belly is only containing a baby the size of an energy drink can!!

A quick reminder of how a can of Red Bull looks :)

This week I have been trying to order the baby bed that I have picked out from Babies R Us. It has been quite the nightmare to say the least.... I have been looking online daily to see if it has become available (because it has been sold out since our first shopping excursion a couple weeks ago) and low and behold Friday afternoon it was available!!! Exciting, right? Not so much.... It is available online and "ship to home" only. This means that in order to buy the baby bed you must pay shipping instead of having it shipped to the store and recieve free shipping. Well, I added it to my cart just to see how much it would be. If it were just like 20 or 30 bucks I was game for paying the shipping fees. Well, brace yourselves..... to ship this baby bed it would cost $180.00!!! Yeah, I know... I felt the same way!! I was floored. I picked up the phone and called the 1-800 number to the main warehouse. I talked to a guy there that informed me they had a shipping special going on right now. I added the coupon code to my order and it took off a whopping 20 bucks. Geeeee thanks. So, now instead of $180 bucks it is $160 bucks. I think not. So, back to the drawing board... I will be checking the net daily now to see when it becomes available to "ship to store".
But, on a brighter note... Suzy's room will be painted this week. I hope Frankie will be here Tuesday to start on it. I went with a baby blue/robin's egg color. I also went to my aunt's house Thursday night to get a "Game Plan" for Suzy's room! I am so excited to say that I have ordered the fabrics for the bedding and it is going to be adorable! I cannot wait for y'all to see it all put together!

Paint Chips and the 2 main fabrics that will be used for the bedding.

A few things that have happened this week-

1. I began using a pregnancy pillow (thanks to Ali G)! She brought the pillow by the house while I wasn't there so I didn't have anyone to tell me how to use it! I was so blown away by this contraption that I had to google images of it to figure out how to sleep with it!
2. Suzy is a very hyper baby girl. Saturday night Scott and I went to El Charro to have dinner. Apparently baby girl loves enchiladas!!! While trying to fall asleep I felt the craziest, coolest thing... She started moving around and kept moving around on and off all night long. I got a total of maybe 3 good hours of sleep. I woke up at one point in the night and Scott was on the couch- I guess that I kept him up all night long too!
3. Bathroom breaks are coming way too frequently way too quick!! I thought that the bathroom issues didn't start until later in pregnancy?? I am an exception to the rule if this myth is true... I am up constantly with the urge and I am told that it only gets worse! JOY!! :)
4. Everything gives me heartburn.... EVERYTHING! From pop-tarts to mexican food.
5. School Day Pictures are for the BIRDS! I had a nice pitty party for myself Wednesday night. And, when I say pitty party.... I mean "let me sit in my closet floor and cry because I have NOTHING to wear" pitty party!! It took me exactly 1 hour to find something that was only decent to wear for school day pictures. I have gone from big to bigger! I hate to see the day that I have to dress my body at 9 months pregnant. I sent a text to several girlfriends venting about the situation...Of course they all tried to make me feel better about it, but it was hard to convince me that the world wasn't ending b/c of my lack of clothing that fits.

This has been quite a busy week.. I will leave you with a nice comparison of how my body has changed in only 4 weeks!!

Veazy's 2nd Birthday Bash

Today, is Veazy William's 2nd birthday and the 10th Anniversary of 9-11. On one hand it was a happy day of celebration and on the other was a somber day of rememberance. Veazy will have a birthday that everyone will always remember.

Sally is the most crafty, cool mom out there in my book. VZ had an awesome birthday party. The weather was perfect for his huge water slide and cool kiddy pool! Everyone had a great time hanging out, watching babies play, and eating burgers and dogs. This beautiful weather makes everything so much more perfect.
Brian, Veazy, and Sally opening all the awesome birthday goodies!
